As an artist, she was on the original board that brought the organization "Visual Arts Exchange" to Wake County to promote new and emerging artists to the area.

Delphine was born in Michigan and lived in Michigan, California, Oregon, and Minnesota. She resided in North Carolina from 1968 until her death. She received a B.S. in Design and an M.S. in Design from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She taught art in both the public schools and adult education sector. She won awards in local and regional shows. Delphine's paintings appear in private collections in Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia, and Florida. A select few of her pieces are at New Elements Art Gallery in Wilmington, NC. Delphine was diagnosed with Early Stage Breast Cancer in August 2002. She fought the cancer with intense rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. In October of 2004, when the cancer was taking its toll, her doctor offered her the possibility of a few more months of life if she continued her treatments. Her response was, "Will I be able to paint?" She did complete a final painting before her death December 14, 2004.

  Artist Statement

"My paintings are the essence of the subject rather than the clutter of detail one is faced with every day. Color variation and line are important in the self expression of my work. There are many ways of expressing my feelings so I cannot stay in just one style of painting - I move from realism to abstraction and back again."
